Injection molding machine screw material/barrel material classification summary

1. Injection molding machine screw classification

1. According to material, there are:

A. HPT fully hardened powder alloy screw,

B, A grade double alloy screw, B grade double alloy screw,

C. Electroplating screw,

D. Stainless steel screw,

E. SKD61 screw,

F. Ordinary nitrided screw.

A: The HPT fully hardened powder alloy screw is made of tungsten-cobalt powder alloy tool steel and is integrally hardened by a special process. The overall hardness of the inside and outside of the screw is the same, reaching about HRC65°. Suitable for processing various transparent products, precision products, and special high-temperature and highly corrosive plastics such as added fiber LCP., PPS.PES.PPA, magnetic powder, bakelite, etc.

B: The double alloy screw uses SACM645 and 38CrMoAlA as the base material, and then the crest or groove is ion spray welded to the tungsten carbide nickel-based alloy. The film density is 98~99.9%, the density strength: more than 10000psi, and the alloy layer thickness is 0.8-2.5mm. The screw surface hardness is around HRC60°. It is suitable for processing various transparent products and engineering materials such as PA6 and PA66 with fiber added.

C: The electroplated screw uses SACM645 and 38CrMoAlA as the base material. After forming, the outer surface is electroplated with a layer of hard chromium, nickel, titanium and other elements. The thickness of the coating is 0.03-0.06mm, and the hardness is around HRC60°. Suitable for processing PC, PMMA, PET transparent materials and corrosive plastic U-PVC materials.

D: The stainless steel screw is made of 9Cr18MoV special stainless tool steel. It adopts overall quenching + overall hardening treatment. The overall hardness is around HRC55°.

E: The SKD61 screw is made of Hitachi SKD61 material and processed with a special process. The product has good toughness and strong torsion resistance.

F: Ordinary nitrided screws are made of SACM645 and 38CrMoAlA as base materials and processed with special processes. The depth of the nitrided layer is 0.5mm-0.8mm, and the overall hardness is HV980~1080°. It is suitable for processing ordinary plastics, such as PP, ABS, PS, AS, and PVC. and other ordinary plastics.

2. Injection molding machine barrel classification

1. Commonly used injection molding machine barrels include: double alloy barrel, nitrided barrel

Introduction to double alloy barrel:

Double alloy barrels include: K1 double alloy barrel, K3 double alloy barrel, K5 double alloy barrel.

The base material of the K1 double alloy barrel is alloy steel, and the inner hole is centrifugally cast tungsten carbide alloy.

The base material of the K3 double alloy barrel is alloy steel, and the inner hole is centrifugally cast with tungsten carbide + cobalt alloy.

The base material of the K5 double alloy barrel is alloy steel, and the inner hole is centrifugally cast with tungsten carbide + cobalt alloy + nickel alloy.

The double alloy barrel is suitable for injection molding with glass fiber engineering materials. The composition of the alloy element for centrifugal casting in the inner hole is selected according to the amount of glass fiber added.

Ordinary nitrided barrel: Ordinary nitrided barrel is made of SACM645 and 38CrMoAlA alloy steel. It is formed after quenching, tempering and nitriding treatment. The depth of the nitrided layer is 0.5-0.8mm. Suitable for processing ordinary plastics

The hardness of the screw barrel varies slightly depending on the selected material, but the overall hardness is around HRC58°.
