Rotation extrusion was conducted with the addition of a Si-XLPE powder to high-density polyethylene (HDPE) matrix in a twin-screw extruder. Compared with conventional PE tubes, rotation-extruded XPE (XPE-0) and PE-30 tubes exhibited lower shrinkage ratios. In addition, rotation-extruded XPE-30 tubes exhibited greater off-axial angle than PE-30 tubes. The off-axial angle of oriented lamellae is controlled by the mandrel rotation rate.
The off-axial angle of oriented lamellae in PE-0 and XPE-0 tubes was parallel to the axial direction. However, with increased mandrel rotation rates, the off-axial angle of oriented lamellae was deviated from the axial direction.
