Bimetallic Screw Barrel

A bimetallic screw barrel is a machine tool part that has been coated with a thin layer of metal.

The layer may vary in thickness from 0.025 to four millimeters. It can be applied by various methods, including coating, cladding, weld overlaying, and thermal spray. Some materials used in bimetallic treatments include Cobalt alloys, and Cermet-carbides of Tungsten alloys.
Tungsten Carbide

A Tungsten Carbide bimetallic (TC) screw barrel is made with a bimetallic coating. This layer can be up to 0.025 mm thick, depending on the screw diameter. It can be applied by various techniques, including thermal spray, laser cladding, and weld overlay. The bimetallic coating can be made from a variety of materials, including Tungsten, Cobalt, or a combination of these.

The alloy used to manufacture the core diameter will determine the overall durability of the barrel. TC barrels are resistant to abrasion and corrosion. They are available in a variety of shapes, including those with C-clamp joints or interchangeable bushes. Different alloys will provide different levels of resistance to different types of plastics.
Alloy steel
An alloy steel bimetallic screw barrel is designed to improve corrosion resistance and wear resistance. Its properties make it ideal for many plastic machinery applications, including screws and barrels. The bimetallic material is an effective substitute for high-speed steel in many applications. It is available in a variety of compositions and forms.

There are several types of bimetallic screw barrels, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. The bimetallic treatment is applied to barrels and screws using different techniques, and the price of each method varies. For example, HUACHEN Screw Barrels are available in two different types of welding alloys - plasma arc welding and electric solitary welding. The base material for both types is 38CrMoAlA.
